Roger Federer’s Outfit for Dubai, Indian Wells & Miami 2015

The first Masters 1000 of the season is still a few weeks away but I thought I would post Roger Federer's Outfit for Indian Wells and Miami as it's already available to buy in numerous online stores.

As usual it's styled the exact same as his Australian Open apparel and the only real difference is the colour which has changed from an electric lime to a bright orange. Not one of my favourite colours to be honest but I think it's alright, the Aussie Open attire looked ok when it was on so I imagine this one will be the same. Again not a huge fan of the grey shorts.

I've only posted one picture of the Nike Vapors for now as I'm not sure they are the right ones – no blue in the outfit so not sure why the shoes would be?

Let me know what you think in the comments.

Also Fed to play Istanbul? Strange one considering how close it is to Madrid but as a new tournament the appearance fees might be juicy, gotta recoup the losses from the Swiss currency peg removal somehow 🙂

Update: Roger is also wearing this out for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Jonathan

Huge fan of Roger Federer. I watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or tweeting about tennis I play regularly myself and use this blog to share my thoughts on Federer and tennis in general.

  1. Goodness me!!! I love this outfit, the word is ‘juicy’.
I don’t know about the shoes but maybe there is a blue somewhere in the outfit to blend.

      1. Well Alysha…. IW 2013 was dark orange and IW 2015 is light orange. Big diff you know 🙂

Besides Roger lost in 2013 matches to players left and right. Should he stay away from all those colors?? 2015 is a new beginning. Light green and light orange. Will work. And remember his last outfit in 2013?? That zebra stripes thing?? The Goat der Goats can carry off anything, but that zebra thing?? Big no no 🙂

Oh and his AO 2015 shorts we all thought was too short, but that was not that bad, so…. maybe this light orange outfit will grow on you too 🙂

      1. Nah Jon, I was just trying to make a point to Alysha. Nothing wrong with the color orange in total. Period 🙂

  2. I’m off to Indian Wells so I’ll let you guys know how this outfit looks in person!

I agree, grey shorts show the sweat lines the worst of any colour…so not a fan.
Fed wore orange at IW in 2013, I believe. The year he injured his back there.

    1. Agree Sue – not keen on grey either – especially if they have got that shiny strip down the side as in AO (tacky I thought). Obviously Nike are going for bright colours this year – and being Nadal is also Nike, I guess the ‘morphing’ is unavoidable Sid!

    2. Yeah he wore Orange 2013 IW and also Miami 2010 with that henley neck thing.

2013 wasn’t a bad one, although the blue was better with the orange bandana and sweatbands.

      Black shorts? No no.

    1. WEird you should say that, Alb. My initial thought was, Ugh, that was the colour scheme Next went for in the mid-ish 80s. Before they became fashionable 🙂 I’ll take your word it was 1983 – I’d thought it might have been 84, but then I was out of the country that year, so possibly not. My original thought when I saw the orange was: But that’s a Nadal colour!

      1. Oops, bad move, that! If they’re both wearing the same shorts, Roger will prove that it is absolutely *not* essential to pick at them the whole time!

  3. Hi All,
been awhile since my last comment here 😉 I miss this blog and the gang 🙂
well, for the outfit part, somehow I like it!, maybe because it reminds me of Nadal 😉

  4. Orange and blue are the opposites on the colour circle. That makes them the perfect contrast which strangely supposed to make both stand out nicely. So in a way, three opposites complement. A lot of movie posters use this technique.

    1. I fail to see how a bright orange top that is almost neon in appearance coupled with cobalt blue like trainers works together really.

I can see something like an orange clutch bag complimenting a blue dress or something but these just seem miles apart, especially with grey shorts in between.

  5. Damn, i was hoping the polos would be back but Nike has been turned inside out when it comes to Fed these days, seems 2012 was probably the last decent run they had of consistent outfits for Roger. Also Istanbul is only rumours at this point right J? If it’s true it’d be pretty interesting see him play a new tournament so late in his career, maybe he plans to skip one of the clay masters or try make up points for skipping Monte Carlo (assuming he dose so).

  6. Hi Jonathan and all,

I always prefer polos but actually orange and grey go well together, better than the neon yellow or lime green whatever the colour was in AO. Still not a fan of it, though. And Dubai, usually he wears the same as AO, right?

    1. Yeah last year he wore same as AO switching between the blue and that cream thing. Although 2 years previous he had the black polo for it with red which was wasn’t worn in Melbourne.

  7. I’m missing him and his tennis so much that he could appear in a horrible jumble of lime green/orange/red/yellow and I would be happy to see him. 🙂

Not that keen on the orange though; I wish they’d go back to the deeper/richer colours. Actually agree with Waleed, black shorts (no stripe, but orange trim) with the orange might have been better.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date Jonathan.

    1. Black shorts with an orange top would be a big no no for me. Can’t see that working in a million years. Would need to white shorts with white shoes that have an orange tick / detailing.

  8. If it had a COLLAR, I would actually kind of like it.

The grey shorts don’t bother me too much, I like that they’ve picked up the orange in the trim, though agree that shiny is a bit, erm…. on the other hand our guy is “so shiny” so I guess we can make it work! Shorts could have been much worse, what if they had gone with orange shorts?

Trying to think what color collar I’d like on the shirt – first I was thinking the darker orange, but then I thought, no, pick up the shorts in the shirt as they pick up the shirt in the shorts – so grey collar for me.

I’m with slamdunk really – if he plays well, I’m not too bothered what he’s wearing.

Looking back at last year’s outfits, doesn’t the Cincinnati green concoction look even better when he’s holding that trophy? 😉 I think it’s my favorite from last year. Maybe except Wimbledon; I always like the Wimbledon outfits.

    1. Ah cool, I think they would look daft tbh. Wonder if they are genuinely unconfirmed or Federerfan just thinks same as me. Saw some photoshop render of the outfit with those shoes but might be made by a fan.

  9. Hey guys, shouldn’t they make an announcement whether Fedrinka will play DC in Belgium?? That was this week right?? Or did I somehow miss it??……Anyone knows??

    1. Hi, Katyani
Roger Federer released his schedule on Facebook this morning: it mentions Dubai, IW, Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid, Halle and Wimbledon, but not anything like Davis Cup. So I guess he won’t come to Belgium.

      1. Hey Wilfried, yeah, today I read it on “Nederlands Teletekst” too.
Too bad. Ah, what can you do. Roger’s rest between tours is more important I think.

But I do think Goffin makes a great chance to win all his matches. Honestly… don’t know who else is on Belgium’s team….

  10. I probably say this more than I should but I don’t really fancy these Nadallish outfits on Roger. Get him in his trademark polos!
On a different note, I wonder what are the chances of Roger playing in Miami?

      1. It would be highly hypocritical of Stan to skip DC considering all the moaning he did over the years. Also I read somewhere that he has a contract with the Swiss Tennis Federation to play DC.

      2. SI Tennis tweeted Stan would skip DC 1st round and reasess later stage. No Roger no Stan, who are going to play, I wonder?

Sue, have a great time in IW 🙂

      3. Hey guys, it does kind of make sense that Roger would not play DC. Wouldn’t that fall in the same weekend (???) I think as the exho with Dimi?? Or that he would not have enough time to practise for that if he would play the DC matches.

Strange that Stan isn’t playing. But… maybe he has got something like, both of us or neither of us.

I guess Chuidi and Lammer will just have to bail Suisse out this time 🙂

      4. Think so, you have to play or be available to play 4 times in an Olympic cycle to play. So 4 ties since 2012, think he played 4 last year – Serbia, Kazak, Italy and Frenchies.

I guess the one vs. Netherlands from 2012 will also count as it was was after London.

  11. I think the orange top with white shorts would have been best just like Jonathan said in reply to someone above. I’m attending Indian Wells this year. It will be my first time seeing Roger live. So excited!

  12. Sorry, I quite like the outfit, and am sure it will look great on our Roger. Wish he goes deep, and win, so that we can watch him (in this outfit) a lot in the next time.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, many of you fan-folks, for the wonderful links! Actually they can lead to more…

  13. Fed’s schedule:

    23 Feb: Dubai
    12 March: Indian Wells
    12 April: Monte Carlo
    3 May: Madrid
    10 May: Rome
    24 May: Roland Garros
    15 June: Halle
    29 June: Wimbledon

Going all in for the clay season. Guns Blazin’

    1. So no Istanbul – just a rumour possibly put out by organisers to get people to buy tickets as I thought. Schedule looks pretty much as normal – he had to go for MC as runner-up last year, and could pick up a bunch of points at Madrid hopefully. Glad to see Miami out – the tournament I most dislike – slow and brutal and definitely a good one for Feds to miss.

Ten days to go before we see the champ – it’s been a long time – can’t wait.

    2. I’m actually not too surprised that he decided to play in the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters. I guess at this point of his career he might as well give it a shot at completing the Career Golden Masters. I think the fact that he’s defending finalist (600) ranking points was factored into his decision too.c 😀

      1. My theories on this:

        1) Roger going all-out to regain No. 1;
        2) Roger trying to get plenty of clay-court practice in the hopes of getting another Roland Garros;
        3) Roger recognising that he’s probably not going to do hugely well on clay, so it won’t matter that he’s playing that many tournaments, or he’ll need to play that many tournaments to keep his points up/increase them
(There may have been a 4), but I can’t remember what it is)

Unfortunately, I reckon only 3) is very realistic.

      2. Yup, (1), and (2) are aren’t happening this year, barring a series of unfortunate, or fortunate events 🙂

    3. Cheers for posting that Scooter.

Yeah Istanbul definitely seemed like a strange one, only one outlet published it. Was probably a traffic ploy or tickets like you say. Dunno how big / reputable the site is that published it, if it’s small fish then it will have been a click bait thing, if it’s large then they probably took a bung to put it on for the tournament.

    1. In India, some moronic politician decided to be a wise ass and make a remark saying that if anyone got caught kissing on Valentine’s Day, they’d be married off. I’m so proud of the logic some of our politicians manage to come up with.

      1. It’s an agenda by the right wing factions, not just a single politician. To exacerbate the issue, they have a fundamentalist government in power right now, isn’t it? And who put them there? Go figure! 🙂

    2. I feel sorry for people who celebrate Valentines day, complete marketing scam. I deactivated my facebook ages ago, but guaranteed it won’t have been pretty; engagements, cliched romantic gestures forced on because ‘it’s Valentines Day’. 😕

      1. Right. Valentines is forced romance in order to draw money out. Neglect it! Take love/romance to every day life!

      2. Nah, all you guys are just jealous. The ONLY people who don’t like Valentine’s Day are the ones who don’t get cards or something 🙂

Me, since a few years I get 3 Valentine cards from my little nephew and my little nieces. BOOM. In your face 🙂 Keep Valentine’s Day coming 🙂 Atleast each year I am covered 🙂 🙂 🙂

      3. @Gaurav – I have a Facebook account but it has zero friends and zero updates, I only use it for managing Facebook Pages and following other fan pages that post highlights, pics, news updates etc.

I had one previous from like 2008 or something which I deactivated and removed completely. Fell into the trap back in the day of accepting and adding people I wouldn’t speak to if I saw them in the street 😆

There’s only so many baby scan pictures, poorly taken shots of food, narcissistic selfies or perceived statuses of wealth and living life to the full I could take.

The whole deactivation process is a joke as well, you can deactivate which just puts your account dormant. As soon as you log in then everything is restored. Would love to know how many people deactivate it but log back in after a couple of weeks because they want to see ‘Stella’s new boyfriends BMW’ and are instantly back in the routine.

Forgotten what I had to do to get the account fully deleted so everything was wiped but it wasn’t exactly easy to find.

      4. I didn’t think you could completely delete your FB account, or data. I thought the data still stays there, out there, somewhere, you know where, right? So, Mr. Zuckerberg still has access to all of it, including the fact that Stella’s new boyfriend has a BMW. 🙂

  14. On Roger’s official website and the 2015 Player Field on Miami Open’s official website, it says that he will be playing in it. But on his official release on his Facebook page, it didn’t include Miami on his schedule.
Anyone who could shed some light on this? 🙂
