Roger Federer’s Outfit for the French Open 2016

Hey guys, here is Roger Federer's outfit for the French Open 2016.

There's been quite a lot of speculation in the last few days about his participation at Roland Garros but he's in Paris and practiced earlier today. So whilst there are some doubts as to whether he will play it looks like there is a decent chance we will see this outfit on the clay. It will also be making an appearance at Stuttgart and Halle too all being well.

As for design Nike have gone for a deep royal blue polo which I think looks good. It reminds me a little bit of some his older World Tour Finals polo's like the one from 2011 and the 2012 one. The polo is solid enough on its own but when teamed up with the shorts and shoes it looks set to be winner. Check it out below.

Let me know what you guys think of this one in the comments.

Huge fan of Roger Federer. I watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or writing about tennis I play regularly myself and have a keen interest in tactics, equipment and technicalties of the sport.

  1. Navy is great and collars suit him and last time he wore these colours he went well in Basel. I hope we get to see it lots. Stay healthy RF.. Allez

  2. I love that practice shirt. Smooth.

I have to think Roger will play Roland Garros, at least the first match. That consecutive Slams streak is something to behold and even if he has to withdraw in R3 or R16 he’d probably still like to have some more matches even if it’s on clay and it will have no bearing on the grass. Even if he is fully healthy for Stuttgart and Halle, he will still have played fewer than 10 matches since January. Fed isn’t like Nadal where he needs tons of matches to “get back in the groove” but if he has any hope of winning Wimbledon he’s got to be mentally sharp.

  3. I hope Federer plays well. I miss watching him play even if he is not 100%. I suspect he is anxious to play deep into this slam. Time will tell. GO MAESTRO!

  4. Looks as though it should be a good colour for him. I only hope he actually gets to wear it in action.

  5. What a lovely vivid blue and it will contrast nicely against the red clay. I do so hope Federer will be fighting fit soon.

  6. hahaha… like some of the comments, I really love blue so its an A+ for me… It looks like the blue in WTF. not sure if what year is that…. He looks good in dark colors.. Let’s hope that he will play in RG..

He’s like John Snow in GOT. Dying to know if he was alive in next season and if Roger will play in RG. Well it’s good to know that Jon Snow was alive maybe its the same outcome for him.. 🙂

  7. You’ve ruined everything, Beansprout. HaHa.

I like the dark blue but would prefer white shorts. Looks very similar to last falls’ gear. Also, I suppose the “stripe” on the back of the polo will carry on all year just like the shiny stripe on the shorts last year.
I still think Nike could do better.

I suppose the grand slam consecutive record is important to Fed. Hope he doesn’t mess up the grass season.

Hey, notice all the hype about “#nextgen”. Is the APT gearing up for Fed and Nadal retiring. Keeping people interested by marketing the “young guns”.

    1. hahaha….ooopss… sorry guys…. 🙂 I can’t feel the next gen surpassing the top 4. But I hope there’s one player that will keep my interest like the way I feel to federers’ game…urgg.. Its really bad of me coz I watch tennis because of Fed…

  8. Richard!! You’re probably going to love this.

Yes or no: I know a tennis player who has used PEDs in his or her career.
    No: 77.4 %
    Yes: 22.3%

What percent of current players do you think have taken PEDs at some point in their careers? Less than 10 percent: 71.0%; Between 11 and 25 percent: 29.0%; More than 25 percent: 0%

Interesting anonymous poll done by ESPN with 31 professional tennis players.

22% YES?!! That’s a pretty large number. Definitely blows Nadal/ Djokovic’s “The sport is clean” argument out of the water.

    1. So much for “clean sport”. 22% is too low. And it would be even higher in the top 10 or 20, when slight advantages translate to tens of millions, and glory.

I’m in it, as long as Roger is in it. After that, good bye to these cheating sons of bitches, especially the Spaniards. Roger’s been denied at least half a dozen slams because of these dopers.

  9. Love this deep blue like an ocean, would look chic in him. Agree with Sumi, it will be nice contrast to red clay. But I wouldn’t mind even in AM’s Under Armour if his fitness is back.

  10. Federer ruled out of RG 2016 🙁 🙁

“I regret to announce that I have made the decision not to play in this year’s French Open. I have been making steady progress with my overall fitness, but I am still not 100% and feel I might be taking an unnecessary risk by playing in this event before I am really ready. This decision was not easy to make, but I took it to ensure I could play the remainder of the season and help to extend the rest of my career. I remain as motivated and excited as ever and my plan is to achieve the highest level of fitness before returning to the ATP World Tour for the upcoming grass court season. I am sorry for my fans in Paris but I very much look forward to returning to Roland Garros in 2017.”

    1. I too read it on roger’s fb page ,
All I hope now is that our champ should be ready for grass season.

      1. I guess as well it’s good that he made the announcement before the draw came out. That moves Rafa up to 4th seed.

  11. Not surprise he pulled out. What REALLY is pissing me off is he keeps going to tournaments to try and play!!!
He should be at home healing his back. Roger is just prolonging the healing process by jumping on a plane and showing up at the next spot on the tour.

So, now it could be longer before he is fit. Should have skipped Rome and RG all together!!!

Hey, I won a year subscription to Tennis tv. How awesome is that! I can start any time. Well, thinking I’ll wait until a certain player is on the court. Thanks Tiger Mobile.

    1. Congratulations Sue on Winning!!..

Yes, you should wait until certain player shows up in court…

      1. Sorry Wanda. You should have picked Murray for the win!

I chose July 1st for the start of the subscription.

  12. Such a Bummer…Not surprising though, I hope he knows what is best…….All the Best for Roger to heal better and quicker for Grass season…Fingers crossed..

Is that me or is Roger does looks stiff in that article picture?

  13. Hi Jonathan and all Fedfans,

Personally, I think this was a good decision Roger and his team made, not to play the FO as much as we all will miss him. No doubt, the enthusiasm is not as present without Roger. Healthwise, lots of rest and relaxation will do good for body and mind. Good Luck, Roger, we will look forward to seeing you fit and play in Stuttgart, Halle and Wimbledon.

    1. I know this is a sensible decision, but the ongoing back problems are making me panic a bit. I pray that he will be in good form for the grass season, but am worried that his age is catching up with Fed.

    2. “Healthwise, lots of rest and relaxation”

Nah, he needs to get fit and play tennis. I keep saying – the older you get, the more you need to play. Edberg had it right.

  14. I don’t know but I read somewhere that the weather in paris does not favour roger’s back and weather forecast show chilly temperature and rains which most probably hampers his recovery.

  15. Nothing better than a blue polo to overcome the Federer blues!

    Definitely buying it.

  16. Well, I’ve now seen the Kyrgios version of this: it’s a brighter blue than I’d have thought from the photos, but that stupid stripe down the back just seems to cockle up the fabric – still don’t know who thought it was a good idea. Hoping we’ll get to see Roger wearing it on the grass, at least, because he should look good in it.
