Roger Federer’s Outfit for Wimbledon 2015

Hey guys, here's Roger Federer's outfit for Wimbledon 2015. As per the rules it's an all white affair with some minor black detailing and I think it looks pretty good. Nike have gone for the Henley Neck with a 3 button placket which you can see below.

It's hard to really go wrong when the Wimbledon dress code is very stringent (I'm sure Adidas will find a way) and it's the first time in a while I've been a fan of all 4 items: Jacket, Shirt, Trainers and Shorts. Henley necks aren't my favourite usually but I like the fact this one has no detailing or other colours on it.

Alternate Nike Vapors

These are the shoes Federer has been sporting in practice so more than likely are the match shoe. Exact same design just no black at all.

What do you guys think? Is it an outfit worthy of #18? πŸ˜† Let me know in the comments.

Jonathan

Huge fan of Roger Federer - I'll pretty much try and watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or tweeting about tennis I play regularly myself and use this blog to share my thoughts on Fed and tennis in general.

    1. If they banned his coloured soles when they were orange, they’ll have to do the same if they’re navy/black, won’t they? Really rather ridiculous – didn’t people automatically wear green-soled shoes for grasscourt tennis back in the good old days? Would have preferred *some* sort of colour on the outfit, but I guess I’ll wait and see how it looks in reality.

    2. The soles in the picture are of the retail shoe for hardcourts. The ones Fed wears will be the same uppers but will be pimpled grass court shoes like all the players wear. They’d probably last for about a set if you used them on a hard court πŸ˜† Bound to be plain white after the Orange pimpled shoe was banned.

      1. Phew! Like Alison was worried there for a moment! Yeah I like it altho hv to say I always prefer a polo collar, but he will look good nonetheless!
Can’t wait for the draw and yr pearls of wisdom on that Jonathan! Basically I don’t want Murray in our half…..

  1. I Agree with Roger that wimbledon has become crazily strict on dress code. I miss the outfits of 07 and 09. Though the outfit is still a thumbsup for me. Agree with you Jonathan that the Henley looks cool (perhaps because it is all white) and I am not sure whether federer will be allowed to wear those shoes.
#Jonathan how about we do a best wimby outfit till date starting from 2003.
If I had to draw my rankings.
    1. 2006 ( the red lines and roger s stubble look too good for me)
    2. 2009
    3. 2012
    4. 2011
    5. 2007
    6. 2013 (the orange linings were good)
    7. 2008
    8. 2010
    9. 2014 ( I never liked the fitting)
    10. 2005
2003 and 2004 were the least favourite for me

    1. Everyone seems to be forgetting what grass court shoes are πŸ˜† the ones in the picture are retail, the ones he wears will be same upper but with white pimple for grass.

My fave was 2009. 2012 also good. No others really stand out for me tbh, they all look quite dated now…

  2. Something relatively fresh, don’t think Fed’s ever worn a henley at Wimbledon. Shame Nike chose black again for the minor details like last year. I remember Fed’s Wimby outfits contained red in ’06, gold in ’07-10, green and purple in ’12 and orange in ’13 for the Swoosh and collars. Surely they are gonna add blue someday!

And sorry Jonathan for spamming my video ads on your blog, hope you don’t mind haha! Copied and pasted from the previous post πŸ˜€

      1. At this rate, Sue will definitely get a career rankings slam, that is, having achieved No.1 to No.10 at least once.

        Go, Sue! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Jonathan

The outfit looks very classy just like Federer. Hopefully we will be celebrating number 18 at the end of the tournament. Hope that nadal is not in feds half but will have to wait and see

    1. Nadal is 10th seed now. He possibly meet Roger on R4

      1. Novak Djokovic
      2. Roger Federer
      3. Andy Murray
      4. Stan Wawrinka
      5. Kei Nishikori
      6. Tomas Berdych
      7. Milos Raonic
      8. David Ferrer
      9. Marin Cilic
      10. Rafael Nadal
      11. Grigor Dimitrov
      12. Gilles Simon
      13. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
      14 Kevin Anderson
      15. Feliciano Lopez
      16 David Goffin

  4. I think it’s nice and classy, has a simple charm. I loved the 2013 Wimbledon outfit, shame we only saw it for 2 matches. I quite like the henley. No more sticky taped on lines on the shorts. Yay!

  5. There’s something refreshingly simple about the Wimby dress code. Maybe it’s because I don’t care much for fashion, but I don’t really like these flashy, radioactive colours the designers usually come up with. Less is more.

If Roger faces Nadal this year, might as well think of it as a great opportunity instead of going into a defensive mentality. If he’s gonna beat him again in a major, then this is the best surface to do it on.

  6. [What do you guys think? Is it an outfit worthy of #18?]

Are you fucking kidding me, Jonathan? If he wins #18, I couldn’t care less if he wore Wawrinka shorts, with a Nadal sleevless top, and pink shoes.

Just get the 18th, that’s all I care about right now. πŸ™‚

  7. Oh, I saw another outfit going around with gold detailing much like the one he wore in 2009 and saw him sporting the shoes on the practice courts already but obviously not the choice he went for which is a shame. But all that really matters is what Fed produces on the court as always πŸ˜€ I find Fed’s kits are memorable when the performance is…

  8. I like the outfit but hoping the shorts aren’t TOO short. Bad flashbacks of McEnroe.
Saw photos of Roger practicing with Hewitt. Last time.

Sid, thanks for the inspiration. Trying my best.

Don’t want Murray in Fed’s half. But then an easy draw means nothing.

  9. The jacket doesn’t look like the one he is wearing in the picture. The one in the picture looks really good.

  10. Wimbledon visual rules for 2016:
Racquets frames must be painted brown. Allowed shades (only one per racquet) birchwook or oak. Branding, if any, must be printed in black, Times New Roman. The material underneath can be any, though.
Haircut, gentleman: similar to Bernard Sumner’s.
Haircut, ladies: any, as long as it allows a ponytail. North Korean haircuts are strictly forbidden.
Cap hats: no, not even if put in the right orientation.
Tatoos: read my lips: “n”, “o”.
Shades: yes, Ray Ban Aviators only.

(jokes aside, I agree with one or two of the above)
