Roger Federer’s Outfit for the Shanghai Rolex Masters 2014

I’m a little late posting this but here’s Roger’s outfit for the Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000 2014. I wasn’t sure what he would be taking to the court in and originally thought this one was for the World Tour Finals, but he’s been practising in the red trainers so I’m guessing he’ll be stepping onto the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena court in this ensemble on Wednesday.

Looks good from the pics I think and has some nice detailing on the polo with the 3 button collar and split hem at the bottom. It’s a good colour too which works well with grey looking shorts.

I’m also a fan of the knitted jacket which has a cable knit design on the front chest area and again nice colours. I picked up one of the knitted style US Open jackets recently and they’re well made. Although they’re certainly not cheap and at $150.00 this one should really have been hand knit by Lynette Federer somewhere in the Alps 😉

What do you guys think?

  1. I really like this outfit and the colour scheme. The whole outfit is one of his better ones. Thumbs up

  2. Much prefer the darker colours for Federer, and he looks good in red.

BTW there are some rumours that Nadal has stomach virus and might pull out of Shanghai!

    1. Yep I was just reading that aswell. Nadal has an apparent stomach virus. But I think he will still play as he has over a day and a half to recover. I just hope Federer overtakes him and gets the number 2 ranking. Another excuse already. But if he was playing on clay he’d be playing with one leg as a half fit Nadal still beats rest of the field. Anyway fingers crossed for him not to play. And he probably needs to have some Chinese medicine like Jonathan mentioned for Cilic, a bit of tiger meat with some wasps and bees soup. A nice jug of snakes blood preferably high quality cobra ( black samba) and then some crushed panda bear and armadillo bones, laced with monkey brains and eyes. There back to normal in a couple of hours. Jobs a good one! !! Lol 🙂

      1. Ha ha. Sorry Sid. My bad. I just read what iv wrote I too now have lost my appetite. Sorry all. Definitely a bad diet menu for those who want to lose weight.

      2. Mmmm, delicious – and would aggravate a stomach virus nicely!

As you say, he’s got the excuse lined up ready to go; after all, no one beats a healthy Nadal…:)

  3. Nice polo, but I still prefer the blue/ green hues 🙂 But looking nice! Let’s hope for a good week! 🙂

  4. I like Roger in red. Don’t know about this shade though. I don’t think the jacket matches the shirt. As usual, have to see what it looks like on.
Can’t believe Cilic lost. Why do people always play “the match of their lives” against Fed!

  5. Tough draw, not expecting miracles. Only have Saturday and Sunday to watch. Hope Fed stays that long. Really don’t want Shanghai to be a tough contest for him, hope all the seeds that are playing great get knocked out. Gdluck fans….

  6. Funny that I’ve been avoided or removed anything in red almost entire my life but Fed in red. FO 2011 is my favourite red outfit, though this one looks good, too. As Sue said, have to see it on him tomorrow. Can’t wait!

Which USO jacket did you get, Jonathan? Black or blue? Yeah, those hoodies looked pretty nice as well. Though I have to see on you 😉

    1. Hi Wanda…. yep Red colour is one of my favourite colours along with dark blue and obviously black.I t FedFederer w pull Iit off as I have seen horrible colour schemes before but when Roger wears the full outfit he always makes it look good. Apart from the once shorts that looked like pyjamas. That was probably the worst ever shorts and colour I have seen. Anyway as long he has aanother successful tournament I will be happy! !! 🙂

      1. Hey Serajul, nice to hear from you. Agree Fed pulls off any outfits, any colours even horrors such as pale lime green, Sid described it as ‘devil’s vomit’, and yes those pyjama shorts, too. Lol. As long as he’s healthy and playing well, I will be happy, too 🙂

    1. But he’s soldiering on anyways. What a brave little trooper he is !

Love the outfit by the way.. Just about anything looks good on Roger but this is one of the best. Agree about.the sweater with cable feature, Jonathan. It looks great on him. His hair is looking good too. Has he had a different cut? Looking particularly handsome these days anyway.

    2. More likely non-perforating adult diverticulitis which can be treated with antibiotics – although I’m not sure how sensible it would be to play professional tennis under these circumstances!!

      1. Ah, thanks for a reasonable explanation slam. I’m sitting here thinking, no WAY he’s playing with confirmed appendicitis.

Getting more & more annoyed with his (RN’s) behaviour.

Do like the outfit, looking forward to seeing it on.

    3. All hail Dull.

I think the older he gets the funnier his ailments will become. Will be having to pull out of punditry roles in Spain and guest appearances 😆

    4. Yet again, he completely takes the pressure off him by cooking up a nice excuse.

Mo**** ******, ti*** *******, two ba**** bi***!

      1. From ESPN Tennis:
“I don’t expect anything from these two tournaments. I expect just to come here and play again and practice and feel a little bit again the competition, try to get in rhythm as soon as possible,” he said.

You have to give it to him, he’s imaginative. After 7 months for knees and 2-3 months for wrist, will now play despite appendicitis!! Are you for real????

      2. Hey Gargantouas, apparently he is the only tennisplayer ever who is playing with pain. Just forget about Roger playing 6 months last year with backpain (the thing he only mentioned when his own fans were attacking him by the way).

Seriously, the only reason why Rafa is not out of tournaments “injured and still practising his tennisbrains out” is…. because he doesn’t want Roger to be number 2 before AO. He doesn’t want to be in the same half as Novak….

  7. Hello J,

This outfit is quite similar to the outfit of 2007 Tennis Masters Cup, Shanghai. 😀 Hoping for RF to turn things around in the Asian swing and add this event to his win list! Hasn’t he moved up to #2 after the USO?

    regards

  8. Jonathan please don tell me he s playing in the same outfit for the rest of the season , 4 tournaments of red. Its a little too repetitive. Geez he s got davis cup final to play and that too in red( well thats impromptu but still). I am not anti red but i wonder that an atleast a seperate wtf outfit would be nice. I wish nike brings up a bottle green polo with silver shorts combination for him. I ve never seen RF wear that alike combination. I wish he does bring himself in a different colour atleast in that breathtaking O2 arena.

  9. Hey guys, what’s up?? What’s up?? Looking forward to Roger playing?? Really, when he doesn’t play….boring….

I read you all think Roger will reach QF or SF…. well then…. let ME be the one to say that not only will Roger reach the Final, he will win it too 🙂 Yep, my faith in the Goat just doesn’t disappear 🙂

By the way, are you guys not in awe of Berdy or what?? Can he be any cuter?? Losing the last final so badly and still ready to play with his head held high !!! That is why I absolutely love that guy (except…. when he beats my hero ofcourse).

And what about our other hero huh?? The greatest gift to tennis?? Beeing injured and sick, having health problems, but still ready to play??? God, he is so great 🙂 Poor guy, Destiny is just not fair to him…. whenever he tries to come back and rule the tennis world, he gets sick…. it is so unfair…. Poor guy. Well, thank God, he is not sick enough to fly a helicopter 🙂 🙂

Come on Roger, Shanghai is ours 🙂 Love you Goat 🙂

Ps: for the girls here….. is Roger getting more handsome or what?? Wow, the way he looked at the airport pics 🙂

    1. You can add Nadal to the list as well. Looks like Federer’s half is still like waltzing through a landmine infested war zone, despite Nishikori and Dimitrov’s exit. Had a feeling he would have been better off being in Nadal’s half. Lopez played pretty well. His slice was very effective. Specially when the ball is low to Nadal’s forehand, he has trouble lifting it off the ground with the extreme Western grip.

Federer has a great chance to get back to world number 2 now.

  10. Lets all just take a moment to admire this great person…. Injured and still kept on playing…. 🙂
    Greatest gift to Tennis 🙂

    1. Hhaha. What’s even more amazing is how he would bend over any time Lopez was playing well. The moment Nadal got a break in the second set, he was moving as though nothing was wrong. Gets broken again, and again he’s bending over as if he’s about to collapse.

      1. Hey Gaurav, unfortunately I am at my work, so cannot watch it, but no worries… he already made everyone aware that he might lose 🙂 So… no biggie 🙂
But…. now like you say, Roger has to get far to become number 2.
I honestly believe the only reason Rafa is playing right now (and now in January) is because Roger was getting too close to number 2….

    1. He breaks back after Mayer has set points, to make it 5-5. Actually Mayer finally hit it in the net. On Break Point #5. Roger looks rusty. Mayer looks pretty good – hitting angles & lines, as good at net as Roger. Once again Roger inspires an opponent to play better than they knew they could…

    2. Roger’s shaking some rust off, & Mayer is hitting the net on shots that had been going in. 1st set to Rog, 7-5.

    3. At 4-4 in set 3, praise be, Roger Federer is back in the house with a hold to love.

A game ago, it was his evil twin Shankerer.

Outcome still up in the air here. No breaks yet in set 3.

  11. no way…. Saved by 0.5 FUCKING millimeters!! And that match point o_O
He didn’t deserve this one, but good thing he got it done! 😀

  12. What a match. Didn’t deserve the win, but boy, what a match. Ugly and scrappy for the most part, but saving 5 match points makes it totally worth it. Federer’s slowly but surely turning into Fighterer.

I felt bad for Mayer, he should have won it in all fairness. I believe he was in tears after the last point. Poor guy. Played extremely well.

Interesting, did any one notice the crowd chanting “out out out” whenever Mayer would challenge? I’ve never seen something like this happening for anyone except Federer at Shanghai. Same thing happened in his match against Murray a few years back.

    1. Chanting out out out when mayer challenged and in in in when fed was challenging. Crazy crowd support over there…

    2. Yep. The most boisterous fan base at Shanghai, always! They also have bells which they ring very often 😀

RF was getting all his challenges correct today (except for one, perhaps). I’m unhappy with the linesmen; one first serve (of Mayer) in the tie-break, if I’m not wrong? Also the smash that Fed hit into the net!

      Nevertheless, a good start.

      regards
      H

  13. I didn’t get to see all of match – but looks like it was better for my heart! It was on record and finished at 1st set and 2nd game – if that was Murray playing Sky would have been there to the bitter end…Sh**, that was close for Rog. Mayer played his socks off in first set, and, clearly, he didn’t back off, phew! Shows what a fighter our man is – this match will certainly have shaken off that rust – and now he is No.2. Those Shanghai fans sure love the Feds – and who could argue? Go Feds, I do hope the next match is easier.
