Roger Federer’s Outfit for the French Open 2021

Uniqlo are back with a new outfit for the clay court swing.

Roger Federer's return to the clay coincides with a brand new outfit from Uniqlo, and here's what he'll be sporting at the Geneva Open and French Open this spring.

Just like his previous outfits, they're designed by Uniqlo U’s Christophe Lemaire and will be available in two colourways: red and blue.

Thoughts on the Outfit

Usually, when Uniqlo post product photos online, we've set to see what they actually look like in the real world, but this time Federer has already been sporting some of the items during his Geneva practice sessions.

He's so far worn the blue match shorts and the red jacket that matches the shirt he'll wear on the court during competitive lay, so it's easier to see the true colours as they tend to look lighter when photographed under lights.

The red, for example, looks a very light red, almost salmony colour on the stock photos, but it's actually a touch darker in the real world images.

Anyway, I'm a fan of the colour palettes Uniqlo have used, and I think the touches on the collar etc., complement the base colour nicely.

The outfits will be available to buy online and in selected stores from May

What do you guys think of Uniqlo's latest efforts? Let me know in the comments.

Huge fan of Roger Federer. I watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or writing about tennis I play regularly myself and have a keen interest in tactics, equipment and technicalties of the sport.

  1. Hey all, how are you? Damn, FINALLY Roger is playing and it is during my worktime so I can’t watch or do Livescore…. Anyways, have fun guys and here is hoping the Goat will do great 🙂 🙂 #lovingthegoatnomatterwhat 🙂

  2. Like the colours – I think, as far as I can tell. They rather remind me of that nice sunrise (or sunset?) scheme Nike came up with for the FO a few years back.

  3. Just lost first set vs. Andujar. Tons of rust. Poor serving. Can’t tell much about movement, because rallies are rather short. Fed makes a lot of uncharacteristic errors.

  4. Bummer. I’d feared that might happen, but thought that once he’d gone a break up in the final set he ought to have been able to make it from there. Wonder where that leaves him for RG?

  5. Colors are great. I managed to get a white kit last year. Uniqlo needs to improve their product availability in a big way. I know the writing is on the wall for Fed but still have huge respect for his game.

      1. Any idea if they will release a Federer Wimbledon collection this year?

  6. To me, most of the Uniqlo kits seem like a uniform, with slight tweaks to colour and collar. Not much pizzazz since the 2019 Roland Garros brown “UPS driver” kit. For 2021, I like how the Uniqlo logo blends into the red shirt. Agree that the colour looks quite different in the media photos, reds can be tricky that way.
