Roger Federer’s Outfit for Cincinnati and the Roger’s Cup 2014

Hey guys, here's Federer's outfit for the upcoming hard court swing starting at the Roger's Cup, Toronto, in August. Looks like a winner to me and we're back to a Polo for the Masters 1000's which is always good.

The colour is officially medium mint with mystic green detailing and I think it looks pretty good. The shoes and shorts are a good blend of colours too and I think it will contrast well against the blue courts of Cincinnati. Fed in a good Nike polo usually spells success so I'm glad Nike are pulling out the stops on the cutting room floor for this one.

The Nike description states it comes with “added ventilation, bonded shoulder seams for no abrasion comfort, specific seam lines to increase mobility, a split hem with drop tail.” Not sure what all that means other than giving them licence to add $20 onto the price tag but I can't knock the design.

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.

About Jonathan

Huge fan of Roger Federer - I'll pretty much try and watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or tweeting about tennis I play regularly myself and use this blog to share my thoughts on Fed and tennis in general.

Hey Guys, Here is my 2017 report from Indian Wells. I say it every year …

  1. Looks good to me! Nice to see this post, Jonathan. Already moved on πŸ™‚
    Bring on the hard courts!

    • First it seems. First victory! This HC season will be good for the maestro πŸ˜‰
Oh and Betterer reminded me of the Wilson Betterer Episode 1! Hopefully others are coming soon too, that one was hilarious!

    • Yeah me too.

Ah I’d forgotten about that advert. His new racquet comes out on Oct 1st 2014 to buy so there might be another advert in the run up.

  2. possibility of darth federer?

  3. Like, like, LIKE this outfit, & just love how it all hangs together, even the shoes. He could wear this for the rest of the year & I’d be happy!

I think the “drop tail” bit means the back is a bit longer than the front – which I also like.

  4. One of my favorite this year so far. I put it as a tie with Wimbledon outfit.
I like the green polo, love the short, and the shoes is a peRFect blend.
    Good job Nike.

  5. Seriously – is Darth Fed really back for USO???

  6. Like it! Fresh, cool looking and great jacket!

  7. Sid TheCookieThief

I can’t believe it. Am I only one here who absolutely hates that color? It’s like…the devils vomit.

    Is it just me? πŸ™‚

    • Definitely just you! I love the green! (-^-^)p_____|_o____q(^-^ )

    • The jacket looks like something Nadal would wear πŸ™ Shoes look pretty cool though, can’t say Federer has worn any bad shoes starting from 2012, where Nike introduced the Vapor range.

      • Hey guys, been ages! Not crazy about it but it’s alright… Conal, you didn’t like the shoes in 2010 ’11? Those were by miles the most elegant he ever wore! Haha all this comment about his outfits ^^ πŸ˜‰

    • Hey, not just you, Sid. Not a fan of it myself. The devil’s vomit, hah, LOL!

Though actually I don’t mind the mint colour itself, just don’t like its colour combination. Could be acceptable if the colour of the collar and the shorts were same. I know I’m too fussy and sure Roger will make me changing my mind πŸ˜‰

    • The more I look at it the more I go off it I think. Still think it’s pretty cool but see what it’s like when it’s on.

  8. Love this especially the shoes he always looks cool on court and this will just make him look even coolerer

  9. Let’s hope he actually makes it to Toronto this year πŸ™‚

Think the colours look quite good, but I’ll wait til I’ve seen them live.

  10. Hi Jonathan, hello to all!

The polo, the Beterer t-shirst and the shoes look really nice, not crazy about the pants.
BUT the HOODIE has an incredible design! It looks amazing. Really, really, big like!
The hoodie alone costs 150$, but I gotta get me one.

The betterer commercial was really funny and I heard they are going to make more.
Do you guys know about #Pseudofed?

  11. I really like this one. Sorry Sid, you’re out numbered! Confession – I have a signed Darth Fed photograph from 2007 in my bedroom. Sorry kids.

    • Sid TheCookieThief

Sue, outnumbered would be an understatement. I’ve been so outscored, it would make Brasil team look better πŸ™‚

When you say, you mean like a real signature?

      • Hi Sid, For awhile there, I was buying Fed stuff on eBay. I’ve got quite a bit but when I found signed balls from all the majors I stopped. Can be addictive.

      • I used to sell Fed signed tennis balls on eBay. I had his signature down to a tee πŸ˜€

Just kidding, but there is no proof what you are buying is real on there? Anyone could write on a tennis ball and call it legit. Especially as the players signature will be a squiggle anyway…

  12. Looks great! Hands-down the best looking shirt for Fed in 2014 so far!
But I thought that this was actually his shirt for the US Open.
    Guess not, heh!

  13. The Greek Gambler

I followed closely the previous post , a very strong post indeed from Jonathan with very passionate comments. Somehow I felt I didn’t fit in and basically not much to add as everything was covered . I was impressed though by the intensity and I have to note that many in here reach extremes of psychopathology in terms of love and devotion for Roger πŸ™‚
This is a bit childish but aren’t the more childish parts of our characters the ones we love and cherish the most?
The only part I disliked is Pablo/King of Clay intervention. Why is he doing this I don’t understand ? ok probably there are many that believe that Nadal is better then Federer in one way or the other or altogether. That’s fine but why do you want to come in here and argue about that? Why do you want to annoy people, especially when they re going through a tough moment ?

Seriously Jonathan I know its hard for you and you don’t want to but maybe the best is to block him out. I don’t agree with what Sid is doing and it is not nice as children and ladies are reading πŸ™‚ but in a way he se got a right to speak like he does.

Anyway its your blog and your call so enough said. Concerning the outfit , I like it a lot . I like these colors and I was upset that last year they only came out with Nadals logos and names. So now is my time to shop! Shoes I like too.

Wimbledon final was a masterpiece, ok Djoker was 5% better but in sports we β€˜ve seen athletes or teams win when they were 50% worse . So it is a petty Roger didnt get it , hopefully he gets a couple of shots for slams in the future.
On with the hard court season now and I hope for the best so,

Allez Roger ! but before that :

Although a tough ask, hope Leo lifts the trophy in Maracana on Sunday!

    Vamos Argentina !

    • Sid TheCookieThief

Hey Gambler, Christine has put me in my place – one of her comments. The troll, surprisingly, was not disrespectful at all in the last post. Perhaps Jonathan showed him the yellow card? He’ll surely be back though.

I want Argentina to win too. On paper, it seems like Germany will do it. My prediction: Argentina 2 Die Mannschaft 1.

    • I’m backing Germany, their football philosophy is better.

      • Me too! Totally professional team! No starry individuals! Showed the world how to plan, execute and win! Motto for life really!

    • The King of Clay

      Vamos Alemania!

  14. I love it. One of my favourite colour combinations on Roger too. I’ve come to the conclusion though that it’s Roger who makes the outfits look good rather than the other way around. Look at how he stood out from the rest in just plain Wimbledon whites! He just wears clothes better than anyone else. No wonder he’s managed to sign sponsorship deals far into the future.

    • “Roger makes the outfit look good rather than the other way around”- absolutely true, Rita! And “he wears cloths better than anyone else”- I can’t think of any other guys wear unconventional colours such as purple/lavender and pink and don’t look ridiculous, let alone look great.

      • I am with your both, Roger wears the cloths and has a great physique. Mint with mystic green will look good on him, absolutely delicious like choc mint ice cream πŸ™‚

    • Agreed on the Roger makes the clothes look good part! I was in fits when I saw the zebra shirt for last year’s indoor season. He managed to make even that look decent! He has a model’s frame, broad shoulders and lean limbs et al.

    • Yeah, with Murray etc the clothes where him and not the other way round. Fed wears the clothes.

Did anyone see pics of Nadal’s holiday? His clothing choices are a shocker. I’m guessing Aunt Toni still does his shopping for him.

  15. I think this is the first time he is wearing green, love the color. I am super excited about American HC swing. Hope Roger can win at least 1 out of the 2 masters. He was so close at IW and MC.

  16. Hmm, those outfits look great on Roger, though not necessarily my favourite colours for Roger. Having said that, grey definitively suits Roger. He always looks great in grey. On light green, one thing is certain that Roger will look young in it πŸ™‚ .
With Roger’s Wimbledon form, for the remaining HC swing, he will triumph in Cinccy, NY, Paris & London.

  17. Something sweet to look forward this July 17th, Roger looking dorky as usual πŸ™‚

    • Cheesy as it gets. Can’t believe they cut the camsex bit.

Looks like Nike throwing their weight around with the little Swiss chocolate maker. Roger can advertise your product but you must zoom in on his Nike tshirt and have a closing shot of his trainers.

  18. Boris, post wimby – on Roger the GOAT

“”Roger Federer has already won Wimbledon 7 times and has been World No.1 for a very long time. He didn’t really need another title, he is the greatest of all time and I have a lot of respect and admiration for him. With his comeback in the 4th set, he showed clearly why he deserves the G.O.A.T. status. He loves to compete and he is a great ambassador for tennis. Kids should take as an example what he did in his career, and how he managed to overcome complicated situations, as he did against Novak in the final in London”.

  19. As a Federer fanboy I have been using the ProStaff 90, now that Fed’s new racket is coming out for sale on October 1, am ready to move up to 97 inches as well! Does anyone know the price of the racket?

  20. Hello,
I’m starting to feel invisible here..
I ask again.. do you guys know about #Pseudofed twitter acount?
I feel its like Roger is saying what we want to hear from him.
    Confessions of a humble GOAT..

    • Hey Tilas, I know it’s a parody Fed account. Personally I never followed but had read some funny comments in the past. Also heard it’s worth following if you hate Fed πŸ˜‰

      • “Courtside tweetings: FYI, I’m not sweating, I’m glowing stardust #humble”

        :))))))))

    • I don’t look at PseudoFed all the time, but sometimes he just nails an expression & it can be quite funny. I usually like the blog posts better than the tweets actually. Sometimes Fed himself says something that sounds just like PseudoFed wroteit, & I get a giggle out of that too. Too much of it can be mean-spirited though; it’s hard to strike the right balance.

      • You put it verry nice Thinker. I agree the blog is better.
Do you think that Pseudofed is a Federer marketing team ideea?
        What do you think Thinker?
        Anyone?

      • No, definitely not, actually. I think Roger works very hard to be very balanced in the way he talks (come to think of it, that’s how he plays too), and that can lend itself to exaggeration, which is what PseudoFed does. I think too that even though Roger speaks English (and I think this goes for French too actually) very well and often idiomatically, it is still not his native language, and sometimes that shows in his sentence construction and word choices – something that can also lend itself to exaggeration.

PseudoFed also seems to inject a bit of whatever the public and/or media narrative seems to be into his material. I think it’s more likely to be one of the well-known tennis writers, someone who actually admires Roger quite a bit, but is sometimes exasperated by him too.

    • I look at it every now and then, but have decided I generally prefer the PseudoRafa account πŸ™‚ – don’t know whether it’s a reflection of my fan preferences, but I find the other one funnier.

    • Of course we know Pseudo Fed Tilas, he has been around for years.

Pretty funny when he first came on the scene but I got bored of it now, hard to find new material and most of it’s the same stuff just reworded.

      PseudoRafa is pretty funny though.

      • Hey Jonathan, thanks for mentioning PseudoRafa. Did know about the one for Roger, but didn’t know there was one for Rafa too. His Pseudo is funnier than Roger’s.

        Loved:
        1) “For sure I appreciated Andy solidarity but it wasn’t necessary to lose to a baby”
        2) “Went to a restaurant. Waiter touched his hair, his nose and adjusted his underwear before he served me. Felt a bit uncomfortable”
        3) “Who decided to give a wild card to Nick anyway? For sure I don’t approve.”

Soooooo many more πŸ™‚ Wonder if Andy and Novak have one too πŸ™‚

  21. PseudoFed is clearly written by an English tennis insider who gets the language nuances as Federer sometimes uses expressions which sound like parody ehich happens when speaking another language! It is very good although can be repetitive and is actually pretty affectionate! Gets Fed very well!
