Roger Federer’s Australian Open 2019 Outfit

Take a Look at Federer's Uniqlo Polo for Melbourne

Here is Roger Federer’s outfit for the Australian Open 2019 and it’s the first time he will be wearing Uniqlo at the Sunshine Slam.

You can see the full outfit in the gallery below and there’s also a white version, perhaps that gets worn should he play a day session match.

Overall, it looks somewhat similar to the dark navy henley he wore at the Hopman Cup and from the pictures, I actually prefer the navy colour from Perth, although as usual, the photographs might not do this one justice.

From Uniqlo’s own description they say the polo is:

  • Made of DRY-EX material with reduced skin contact for smooth, dry comfort even when you perspire.
  • Created by UNIQLO U under the supervision of Christophe Lemaire.
  • Coloured edging on the hem creates a sophisticated design.
  • Developed after numerous meetings with Roger Federer and in a blue colour that matches the hard court of the Australian Open.

Check Latest Price

From the feedback I’ve seen on Twitter after I posted it most fans are underwhelmed 😀 I think it’s ok but need to see it on first. However, the one good thing about Uniqlo is the price is very fair compared to what Nike like to charge for fairly run of the mill quality.

What do you guys think of the outfit? Let me know in the comments.

    1. No wonder he choose white considering last two times we have great success on white shade dresses… Also agree that Perth one did looked great….

  1. Must admit I liked the navy blue outfit at the Hopman Cup. Looking at the
outfit for AO it looks heavy maybe its just a dense colour, and will look
    fine when worn.

  2. I don’t like it…
He should wear something like the format of 2009 collection, in this case a full black with sky blue or blue nuances.

  3. As somebody wrote on twitter : ” Roger loves tennis so much, he wants to melt into the court… ”

This Great Barrier Reef colour reminds me of the Stuttgart 2018 and it was nice. It brought him luck…

When the socks and shoes are white, it’s better to watch his dancing feet contrasting on the blue court.

  4. I like the collar. As for the colour, Roger can carry off most colours, so let’s see how this one looks on-court. Besides, the most memorable outfits are the winningest ones, who ever knew we would come to love the zebra-mimicking 2017 AO outfit so very much!

  6. Hi Jonathan. First time commenting after following you for over a year. Thank you for all your excellent posts. As to the outfits, i like the white. Very clean looking. Frankly though, Roger can Rock any look. On the court, or off.

  7. Wow, I can’t keep up with your speed, Jonathan. I’ve found a post everyday when I wake up in Japan since new season started! You are a star 😀
As for the outfit, I like the colour, though the collar looks like pyjama, doesn’t it? C’mon, any news about RF logo?

  8. The color looks dark green on my browser, nice if it’s blue instead. I don’t like the collar too. On the photoshop(?) version on Roger it has no nice form when him moving. We’ll see. As to the RF logo, I fear it’s part of the deal that Uniqlo shows throughout the agreement. If the genial RF logo comes on as well might make him look a little like a poster? I hope they find a solution. Meanwhile I like Uniqlo’s somewhat simple attitude. – But I loved the AO-17-zebra from start and of course it since was my favorite

  9. When they say matches do they mean tones with? Anyway all the points above I concur with but just hope the dry air emphasis gives him comfort !
Anything is fine this become a winner hopefully too, just be on a court somewhere and keep playing exhos anything… just love watching those feet move & the play that follows . C’mon !!!

  10. That shade of dark green is nice and it will look great on him. Just hope the heat won’t be overwhelming and hopefully he will play at night.
Can’t wait to watch his game!
Vamos Roger, play it once again!

    1. Blue to my eyes not green but is it? He was on about Green for WTF but went blue. My eyes see gun metal blue …help what is it?

  11. Colour yes it’s nice but solids without any designs…. cmon Uniqlo you have ideal athlete here and you come with this. Don’t get me started on the material and cut of the pants. Gosh I miss Nike right now.

  12. I don’t mind the colour. The collar looks like something from the 1950″s. Maybe the Beach Boys will break out in song?
“reduced skin contact for smooth, dry comfort even when you perspire.”…what does that mean? It’s so so baggy that it never touches your skin?
Anyway, I badly miss Nike circa 2012.

  13. Thanks for posting the link to the outfit. I bought the blue set for my 13 year old son, who is a tennis player.

    1. Ah cool, let us know on the quality? I’ve never bought anything from Uniqlo but tempted by some of the hoodies for daily wear as the prices are decent.

      1. The general quality of Uniqlo is good. They are good value too, I just bought two sweaters from the local store for less than 60 dollars. Will let you know how the tennis outfit fares.

      2. Jonathan the Quality of Uniqlo’s tennis clothes are really good. Last year I got fed’s Wimbledon stuff and it still use it to this day! I would recommend to anyone to buy if you like them. I’m def getting them!

      3. I bought the light pink polo for me and my son that Roger wore in Basel. Great quality , very thin, comfortable to wear and very “dry-ex”. I also bought some hoodies. Great cut, style, quality and convenient to wear.

  14. Not long now to the draw.It would be nice if Fed is in Nadals half of the draw rather than Novaks. It is good for Feds chances
That his kryptonite Del Potro is not playing.I don’t like Delpotro but that must have been a horrible injury and I hope
that he makes a full recovery. As for the rest let the dice fly high.
