Abierto Zapopan, Guadalajara Prize Money 2021
Part of the WTA 250 circuit, the Abierto Zapopan takes place at the Panamerican Tennis Center in Guadalajara, Mexico from 8 to 14 March 2021.
The event debuted in 2019 and makes a return for 2021 with a total prize money pool of $235,238 which is an 88.19% rise compared to the offering in 2019.
Why the big jump when all the other events are reducing prize money by over 50%? The event has been promoted to a WTA 250 event and the prize money has been bumped up accordingly. The event started life as a WTA 125k event which has substantially less cash available to distribute amongst the players.
The champion in Zapopan will take home $29,200 which is up 46% compared to what the inaugural champion received in 2019. The runner-up prize sees a similar boost of 49.1% and they will take home a cheque for $16,398.
