Sofia Open Prize Money 2020
The Sofia Open first took place in 2016 at the Arena Armeec Sofia and is part of the ATP 250 series of tournaments.
One year later, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov won the title on his first visit in 2017 and while the event has yet to solidify a position in the calendar, bouncing around from February to October in recent years, it's able to attract a number of top players thanks to an impressive prize money pool.
This year, the event takes place in November after the pandemic wreaked havoc with the tennis calendar. While prize money is reduced compared to what players have become accustomed to, there is still a generous total remuneration pool of €325,615 for the 2020 Sofia Open.
The winner in the Bulgarian capital will take home €24,880, a drop of 72.5% when compared to last year. The runner up also gets a -59.5% haircut, with €19,795 in prize money.
Instead, the bulk of prize money this year has been allocated to the earlier rounds as the players who aren't often capable of winning main draw matches were hit hard by the 175-day hiatus of the tour.
Losers in qualifying will receive €1,375 and €2,654, increases of 7.4%, and 3.9% respectively. First-round main draw losers are the only other players to see a rise, they'll receive €5,415, a bump of 2.5% compared to 2019.
