The Rolex Shanghai Masters is the newest addition to the Masters 1000 circuit but its prize money is the biggest paycheque on the ATP Tour, thanks in part to title sponsor Rolex who have backed the tournament since is first launched in 2009.
For 2019, the Shanghai Rolex Masters Prize Money stands at a prize pool of $7,473,620 with the winner taking home $1,374,995 in their back pockets.
The tournament was awarded ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year, as voted by ATP players for five straight years between 2009 and 2013 and the remuneration on offer has clearly played a part. Even first-round losers walk away with a cool $27,205 which is a 7% rise on 2018.
Perhaps the biggest winners this year are qualifiers with 1st round qualifying losers netting $5,205 and final qualifying round losers earning $10,405. This is a 77.2% increase from 2018 and should go some way to pleasing some of the more vocal lower-ranked players who are critical they can't earn a good wage for serving up mediocrity.
