Austrian Open, Kitzbuhel Prize Money 2020

The Generali Open takes place on the picturesque clay courts in Kitzbühel, nestled in the Tyrol region of the Austrian Alps.

In 2019 the tournament enjoyed some homegrown success when Dominic Thiem became the first Austrian to win the title since Thomas Muster in 1993.

Unfortunately with Thiem still playing at the US Open, he won't be able to defend his title or play for a share of the €343,505 total prize money on offer for the 2020 Generali Open.

As you can imagine, with the world in economic turmoil due to ill-thought-out lockdown policies, the money on offer this season has taken a big hit.

The winner at the Generali Open this year will take home €24,880 which is down 72.5% on last year. While the runner up sees a payout €19,795 as their prize money which is down almost 60%.

The drops in remuneration are mirrored throughout the draw, except for first-round losers who see a bump of 2.5% to €5,415. This has been done to help players at the lower end of the sport who have seen their earning potential drop off a cliff with the tours 175-day hiatus since March.

You can see a full breakdown of the 2020 Kitzbuhel prize money in the table below. A percentage change is also provided to compare with last season and the Euros have been converted into £ and $ to give a comparison for British and American readers.
