The Hobart International takes place in the run-up to the Australian Open and is held at the picturesque Hobart International Tennis Centre.
First held in 1994, this WTA International event attracts a number of top players who are looking to find form ahead of the first Grand Slam of the season as well as to kick off the year financially with a good chunk of prize money.
For 2020 the total prize money at the Hobart International is $244,250 which is a 13.8% rise on last year. The bulk of that increase has gone to the qualifiers and early-round losers with the winner receiving $43,000 which is the same as 2019.
Instead, the big beneficiaries in 2020 are qualifying losers with first and final round losers who have seen a bump of 83.3% and 65.2% respectively. They'll receive $1,100 and $1,685 for their efforts.
