French Open Prize Money 2022

The French Open Prize money for 2022 has been unveiled, and it is now back up to pre-pandemic levels after the last two years were severely disrupted with crowd limitations.

The total prize money at Roland Garros for 2022 comes in at €43.6 million, which is up 26.87% compared to 2021 (+2.20% compared to 2019, when the tournament was last held under normal conditions)

The men's and women's champions will take home a cheque for €2,200,000, which is 57.14% more than Novak Djokovic and Barbora Krejikova received when they lifted the trophies last year.

The runner up can also look forward to a healthy €1,100,000 landing in their bank account, a 46.67% increase compared to last year.

It's not just those who make the latter stages that benefit from a pay rise either. Players making an early first-round exit can look forward to a €62,000 paycheque, up 3.33% from last year.

While losers in the first round of qualifying will take home €14,000, which is a 40% boost vs twelve months ago.

The increase in prize money for the first round of the singles main draws and the qualifying competitions is designed to help the players who have suffered the most as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The French Tennis Federation
