Federer cruises past Zemlja in Doha

Well these matches are extremely tough to blog about, this was an exceptionlly easy match for Roger, he was able to cruise through in 1st gear without ever really being tested and won 6-2 6-3.

In supposedly tricky windy conditions Fed make it look pretty easy out there, and coasted from start to finish. He came out the blocks pretty quickly like he had done against Davydenko in the round before and wrapped up the first set in just 34 minutes after breaking early on.

The second set was a little closer as both players traded games until 4-3 where Roger just upped his level ever so slightly and won 12 of the last 14 points. An easy victory, but a nice workout nonetheless.

It is important not to get frustrated in the wind, like I maybe did when I was younger,” said Federer. “You become used to it.

Federer now goes onto to play Andreas Seppi in the Quarter Finals, I think that's another easy match, Seppi has no real weapons to hurt Roger and he certainly can't grind points to win so it'll be a routine straight sets win – I predict 6-2 6-1.

It looks he'll play Tsonga in the Semi finals, and if he makes the final then it could well be Nadal. I don't think Doha matters towards Rogers chances in Australia, but a win against Nadal on an outdoor hardcourt would only every be a good thing so it might be an interesting match if they both make it.

Huge fan of Roger Federer - I'll pretty much try and watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or tweeting about tennis I play regularly myself and use this blog to share my thoughts on Fed and tennis in general.
