About Jonathan

Huge fan of Roger Federer - I'll pretty much try and watch all his matches from Grand Slam level right down to ATP 250. When I'm not watching or tweeting about tennis I play regularly myself and use this blog to share my thoughts on Fed and tennis in general.

    • Finally!!! Boo yeah. So does mean that I just won the Davis Cup or the usual World Tour Final. (please don’t say I just won Match for Africa 2)

    • Well titles are usually linked to the nearest tournament. We already had winners for the Davis Cup and WTF.

IPTL? The Rooftop Sunday Slammers. Winning a title on home soil is a big deal πŸ˜€

  1. Hi Jonathan

Does this mean I get in te top 3 for the first time ever!! Great quiz

  2. ah, great quiz! Didn’t do fantastic, lol. Managed 4 of the Fed ones, 1 non tennis, 2 fedberg, and just the one edberg only… Really well put together though, and a genuine challenge unlike most fed quizzes out there! If you’re reading this, Murli, thanks! It was good fun!

  3. Thanks for the quiz Murli!! It was extremely hard. I’m sure you enjoyed everyone failing your test πŸ™‚

Anyhoo, Merry Christmas everyone. Hope everyone has a fun year-end and fantastic New Year. See you all at Brisbane.

  4. Hey all the lovely people on this blog… Merry Christmas. May all your Christmas wishes & dreams come true πŸ™‚

  5. And Jon, thanks for all your hard work & great posts all year long. Much appreciated πŸ™‚ Keep them coming πŸ™‚

Ps: Jon…. how is the war with Andy going?? Is the Mighty Mighty Muzza still checking your tweets?? πŸ™‚

  6. Wow. I got 9. That was a lot better than I thought πŸ™‚ Got the Hopman Cup year wrong, though.

Anyway, Happy Christmas to everyone who’s celebrating it. And don’t forget Roger on BBC Radio 4 on the 26th if you can get it.

    • Impressive performance. Could be a title contender.

Don’t think anyone outside the UK will be able to listen on an actual radio unless their is a rebroadcaster in their country but easy enough for anyone to stream online…

  7. Merry Christmas everyone!!! πŸ˜€

Haha, I cannot believe I did not pick Anna Wintour for the Willy Wonka question! The resemblance was so obvious!

  8. I think I got 7 correct. Better than I thought.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all!

  9. Merry Christmas All. Thanks for your kind comments on the quiz. I know it was tough but I had great fun making it and hope you all had fun trying to answer too. Special thanks to Jonathan who put it up. As Gaurav says, next stop down under.

  10. Trudi, John, Gaurav, Alison, Conal, Sue and the rest, thanks a lot for your special comments on the quiz. Merry Christmas again and a Happy New Year too

  11. Dears All,

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
    wish you all the best

  12. Hi all, hope you had a great fΓͺte!

Rather late to pop in to say this but hey thanks Murli for the fun quiz. Gee it was tricky but I think I got nearly half of them right! Shame a few of my answers were very close…a spelling mistake doesn’t count by any chance? Anna Winter?! Damn!

Look forward to spending another fantastic year as a Fedfan with you guys πŸ™‚

    • I think you definitely get credit for Anna Winter instead of Wintour. You were thinking of the right person. (Of course in future, now that you know, you must spell it correctly.) And – Of course this means I get credit for saying Ciba-Geigy instead of just Ciba! And I was another one who got Hopman Cup right, but the year wrong. Surprised myself by running the Fedberg category!

  13. Hey better late than never!! Thks for the quiz! Did ok! Can’t wait for Brisbane and a new post Jonathan! Til then Happy New Year to all!!

  14. Ps got 10/11 depending on how marked?! 1/2 right on Hopman Cup!

  15. Pps am following a friend’s progress in 2015, first full year on the Pro tour after 4yrs at college in America; Joe Salisbury (GB) currently in futures, ranked 832 in singles, and 326 in dubs! Life at the coal face of tennis! Interesting contrast to the rarified level of Rog and co! Nice bloke, gd player, deserves to make a living from the sport he loves! Will drop in on his progress from time to time!

    • Hey that’s fantastic. Wish him all the best from my (our) side!! Tell him to swing by the blog and drop in some insider scoop from time to time.

  16. Good luck to your friend, Susie.
I see Fed took Kokkinakis as his hitting partner in Dubai this year. Nothing but praise for Fed from him.
    Brisbane right around the corner!

  17. Sid TheCookieThief

If this quiz were an indication of how true a Federer fan I am, then I have failed, miserably. I’m so pathetic, I should probably become a Nadal fan. 😐

    Happy 2015 to everyone!

    • Sid – do not even think about becoming a Nadal fan, we would miss you and have to be rude about you!! and anyway he lost his first match of the year is it an omen?

  18. Hmn, these questions listed were not for small children. It was for matured minds πŸ™‚
How much longer do we have to wait for tennis to begin? πŸ™
    So heartbroken waiting for Brisbane

  19. WHAT’S ROGER WEARING IN A WEEK’S TIME PLEASE πŸ˜€ ?

  20. Hey all the lovely people here. Wishing you all a happy new year and a good and great 2015.
May 2015 bring all of you personally everything you want and may it bring our Goat his health and may he stay injuryfree. Hoping he will keep Stefan as coach all year through. And more important, hoping he will keep the perfect balance between tennis and family.

    Happy new year πŸ™‚

  21. Happy New Year everyone! May 2015 be better than 2014 and may all your wishes come true!

Thank you for sharing your love for tennis and for Roger this past year and even before.
I hope we get more chances to celebrate together next year πŸ™‚

Brisbane is just around the corner now. See you soon in the first match!

  22. Happy New Year to all the great Fed fans on this site!

Looks like Roger will be wearing hot pink and lime green in Oz. My oh my.

  23. I got 7!!!! I thought If I got less than 5, I’d cry all day.. But Yay!!.. The questions were really hard though, I must say I guessed that question about Wilander and Edberg’s wife, I mean.. He’s swede right?? πŸ˜€ At least I tried!!!
