1000 Best Shots Of Roger Federer’s Career
Time for another Federer tribute video but this one is a little different to usual as it takes things to a whole new level in terms of comprehensiveness. The creator, Raz Ols, has compiled what he thinks are Roger's best ever 1000 shots of his career so far. No fancy editing or transitions, no music, just Fed hitting a tennis ball across 1000 points (winning most of them!) and you can watch it below:
At over 2 hours long I can't imagine how much work was involved to collect the clips, order them and then edit into a final compilation. Fortunately, the work hasn't gone unnoticed with the views racking up and Fed himself showing some appreciation as he picked up on it this morning when he was probably sat in a Dubai airport lounge waiting for his flight to Perth:
As for why the video was created, this is the what Raz Ols had to say:
Approximately three months ago I set out to make a video I had never done before and I’ll never make again. As a tribute to Roger Federer’s extraordinary career, filled not only with some of tennis’ most staggering achievements, but with sublime and sensational shotmaking as well, I created the video that you are now watching. I have always felt that a top 10, top 50 or even a top 100 (I’ve done that before) wasn’t enough to showcase the otherworldly variety, quality and quantity in Roger Federer’s book of great shots. He has basically written his own manual when it comes to entertaining the tennis crowds all across the globe. The late author David Wallace Foster even resembled Federer’s brilliance to a religious experience. While this video might not be a religious experience, my desired hope is to shed – in my opinion – a much-needed light on Federer’s golden array of great shots.
So what do you guys think? Does 1000 do Federer justice? I've been watching in blocks of 100 and I'm halfway through at the time of writing. Very interested to see the Top 20….
Go Roger
1st?
2h ! Wow .
I can’t imagine how many videos and shots he had to watch to make this video. And how much time this has taken. I think he deserves a medal. And again thank you Jonathan for sharing this 🙂 .
Yeah will have been a crazy amount of work, it takes me a few hours to do some of the top 10 posts I’ve made on the blog, so multiply that by 100 basically. Bit of a mundane task I think but must be satisfying now it’s released and Fed has actually seen it which is the icing on the cake!
The question is – did he watch all of it? 😀
I guess not. But appreciative acknowledgement is for sure there, nonetheless. Nice!
Awesome video! I watched the first bit and then the last 20 or so. I wonder if the ace he served against Nadal at the IW 2012 semi to win the match is in there? Check out #1, good choice!
Canary Islands…so you were chasing birds.
Watching the first few then skipping to the end. Isn’t that like reading the last page of a book after only reading the first chapter?!
Guilty as charged…no time for all of them at once. Couldn’t help myself….I am weak.
What a great video, really appreciate it. I get to relive some of Roger’s magical points.

is “also” and will ever be the Masterchef of tennis.
Great video by Raz Ols. Let’s hope he can add several dozens (or hundreds ?) of shots to his compilation in a few years !
I caught myself smiling, almost clapping while watching.
Superb video. Kudos to Raz Ols for taking time out of personal and professional life to make this.
Personally no 1 was a nice choice. I guess I would’ve swapped with 5
My top 3 would be
uso 09 tweener vs djokovic
vs agassi
vs roddick
Totally deserves a praise from the GOAT himself! It’s in my YouTube favorites’ folder now and I watch 40-50 shots at a time every day! Congrats and well done, Raz and thanks for posting, Jonathan 🙂
What a great video! So nice to see his older shots from older matches. Have forgot some of them.
Great tribute to the great man! Thks Raz and Thks for sharing. Working my way thru! No spoilers Plse! ?
